WINSLOW, Ariz. — The Arizona Broadcasters Association has announced that Loy Engelhardt of KINO in Winslow is one of three people who will be inducted into the Broadcasters Hall of Fame Sept. 10 at Talking Stick Resort in Scottdale.

Engelhardt joins Marty Manning of KESZ in Phoenix and Ernesto Portillo, who is a Spanish language broadcaster for television in Tucson. All recipients have more than 50 years of experience in broadcasting, earning their honors.

Engelhardt has been a superb announcer of every sport. He announces for the Winslow Bulldogs for football, basketball, baseball and softball. Art Griffith works with Engelhardt at football games — the two make an excellent team and are considered by many to be the best source for information about Winslow High School and its athletics.

Engelhardt has KINO cover Winslow City Council meetings and many other significant happenings in the city.

Broadcasters are important to the teams and schools they cover and their fans and Engelhardt is no exception. He is to Winslow what Vince Scully was to the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers.
